You can’t always have what you’re so sure you want Can’t always have your own way In this life you see, there ain’t no guarantees At the risk of sounding cliché In a moment’s time, you’ll understand What you gain by giving some away Another new beginning, awaits your resolve Push through that door, and your fears will dissolve A brand new beginning, brand new day A brand new beginning to a brand new way You can’t always have what you’re so sure you want You can’t always have your own way Another new beginning, awaits your resolve Push through that door, and your fears will dissolve A brand new beginning, brand new day A brand new beginning to a brand new way

With Me 02:42
My indecisive ramblings and ill-advised gamblings Have put me in this spot again While all good fortune did was sit and watch As we stare blindly at the clock Doing nothing of consequence or means Inspired by a vision, but plagued by indecision Most things I’ve started sit and wait for me To come back with a vengeance, With clear thought and intention To make so many broken parts complete But the mighty tide of nonsense pulls us in And takes us from who we’re supposed to be But I can change that all right now, and I swear I know how But first you’ll have to come along with me Come on down the road Let’s go to a show Come on you’ll feel free So please pack your things and come along with me I don’t mean to sound condescending Or put down the life I’ve been defending, But there’s got to be just a little more And I just can’t stand the thought, Of livin’ a life that’s never fought for you to be with me We don’t need a mansion on a big ‘ole plot No Lamborghini or a fancy yacht And peace of mind’s all we really need And the best things in life are really free So please pack your things and come along with me Please pack your things and come along with me

I’m powering up all my special forces All my lost and found resources That will save this day I’m calling up all my long-lost losses All my win at-all-cost causes That will help me make it through I’ve been looking all around For what I’ve lost, won’t stop until it’s found And I pray, today will be the day That I find my way back to you I’m looking through all my forget-me-just-go-on days All my proud and foolish gone ways That made me who I am today I’m looking up, so much more now than ever My ways of running gone from here on Now I’m here to stay for good I’ve been looking all around For what I’ve lost, won’t stop until it’s found And I pray, today will be the day That I find my way back to you I’ve been looking all around For what I’ve lost, won’t stop until it’s found And I pray, today will be the day That I find my way back to you I’m coming home, with my senses rearranged now Hope you recognize me somehow Cause I’m here to make a change

All these years All this preparation Can’t be too late, can’t be too late Have I wasted time? So much deliberation Can’t be too late, can’t be too late Free me from these days Self-induced sedation Can’t be too late, can’t be too late Save me from myself Save me from myself Save me from myself, this time All these prayers Pleading for salvation Can’t be too late, can’t be too late In the darkest night Hopes for revelation Can’t be too late, can’t be too late Save me from myself Save me from myself Save me from myself, this time Please hear these words My sincere invocation Can’t be too late, can’t be too late So many pages Now filled with consultation Can’t be too late, can’t be too late Save me from myself Save me from myself Save me from myself, this time

Seems like everyone loves hearing about the latest conspiracy I’d be lying if I said that didn’t include me It’s kind of sad to see this drama define our history But I really can’t judge unless I start working on me We all can’t figure out the best way to be free Craving and daring still get the best of me In the meantime, I’ll try my best to be me Even when my best ain’t, even when my best ain’t Even when my best ain’t, so easy to be Please don’t carry your fears around for all to see Just put them all together and bring them here to me I hope those days lived in fear will soon be gone May you always know for certain you can depend on someone We all can’t figure out the best way to be free And craving and daring still get the best of me In the meantime, I’ll try my best to be me Even when my best ain’t, even when my best ain’t Even when my best ain’t, so easy to be There’s no sense in acting like we have it all figured out And there’s power in knowing we all live with doubt Remember every day brings with it a brand new beginning It’s that hope for something better That keeps this crazy world spinning We all can’t figure out the best way to be free And craving and daring still get the best of me In the meantime, I’ll try my best to be me Even when my best ain’t, even when my best ain’t Even when my best ain’t, so easy to be

He said, there was a time I thought I had it all figured out Walked around this town without a single doubt Gonna make a difference for certain someday Thought, oh, it won’t be long, I’ll be well on my way Then one day the hands on the clock just up and stopped movin’ Stuck in first gear, everything I touched I ruined A lot of doors slam shut when you miss all them deadlines Dancin’ with my demons became my brand new pastime Dancin’ with my demons became my brand new pastime Old man used to preach, Ain’t about what you say, but what you do Don’t be another one of them people Promise a lot and never follow through At seventeen, I wasn’t listening, nobody knew more than me He did what he could, but I was too proud ‘Til the real world helped me see Then one day the hands on the clock just up and stopped movin’ Stuck in first gear, everything I touched I ruined A lot of doors slam shut when you miss all them deadlines Dancin’ with my demons became my brand new pastime Dancin’ with my demons became my brand new pastime I had a little girl and she loved me so, but I was too blind to see With a whole lotta help from my chemical crutches Figured I’d be better off free Stumbled around this town, a year or two I guess Once again, I was wrong and it was time to confess I could disappear for days, ‘bout all I’d need Tank of gas in my truck, a case of beer and you won’t find me And leaving the situation became my modus operandi Running from my fears, but if I ain’t around, no one could ask why Then one day the hands on the clock just up and stopped movin’ Stuck in first gear, everything I touched I ruined All them doors slam shut when you miss too many deadlines And dancin’ with my demons became my brand new Dancin’ with my demons became my brand new pastime

Cynical words, like migrating birds, Appear to know their destination Fearful prayers fall on deaf ears, Compared to those spoken with intention My former plan lacked a faithful man, ‘Til I met you that lonely evening Now storms approach, But lack compelling force, ‘Cause I’ve run from my deceiving Never knew how much I lacked ‘til I found you I was lost without a cause ‘til I found you Never knew how much I lacked ‘til I found you I was lost without a cause ‘til I found you Doubtful stares, like suspicious glares Only bring about dissension You’re fast asleep, yeah, the climbs too steep Without some sort of redemption Love and light the key, to help you see, Free you from all this pain It takes great force, to reverse inertia’s course, Mighty will to break the chain Never knew how much I lacked ‘til I found you I was lost without a cause ‘til I found you Never knew how much I lacked ‘til I found you I was lost without a cause ‘til I found you

about

This record is dedicated to family and friends that listened to the songs and encouraged me to move forward with recording them. This record touches on themes of love, loss, the passing of time and redemption. In the midst of an extremely challenging year, filled with so many unknowns, including a pandemic, political unrest and the emotional strain of physical isolation, creating music became a source of positivity and joy. Thank you to all that were involved in making this record!

about

Jason Mirek Silver Creek, New York

Singer-songerwriter from Western New York. Blending a wide range of influences and delivering them with a slightly unorthodox approach to phrasing and arrangement, making it difficult to classify in one particular genre. From traditional folk and country roots to subtle orchestral layering. Having fun exploring a variety of styles seems to add a certain energy. ... more
